COMPOSITE & PORCELAIN VENEERS
A veneer is a type of dental material that is placed over a tooth, usually in order to improve its aesthetics. Veneers can be made in either the cost-effective composite material (same material as white fillings), or the very strong and highly aesthetic porcelain material (similar to that of ceramic crowns). A brief description of both variations is provided below, however it is best to speak to your dentist on which type of veneer would suit you best!

COMPOSITE VENEERS
Composite veneers are simply composite fillings placed on the outer layer of your front teeth. They are a cheaper alternative to porcelain veneers, and are often chosen to quickly and cheaply mask underlying discolourations, or improve crowded, worn and gappy teeth. This type of restoration can be completed in a single appointment and usually lasts between 7-12 years before repairs or touch-ups are required.
A major benefit of composite veneers is how little the tooth needs to be cut down (often not at all). Composite veneers can also be removed, replaced or adjusted with ease whenever you like. It is important to note that over time, staining may occur on composite veneers, and retouching / repolishing may be required at your 6-monthly visits, in order to bring back the aesthetics of the initial appointment.

PORCELAIN VENEERS
Porcelain veneers are beautiful thin pieces of porcelain bonded over teeth in order to whiten the colour of a tooth and improve its shape. Multiple veneers can be done at the same time to makeover a complete smile.
Porcelain veneers are highly aesthetic, although in order to allow room for a porcelain veneer, the dentist has to remove a very small amount of tooth structure from the tooth. A technician then creates the porcelain layer which is bonded onto the tooth. Porcelain veneers can be completed over 2 appointments, and last approximately 10 years or more before they may need to be re-polished or replaced.
Porcelain veneers are the absolute pinnacle of aesthetic dentistry. Rest assured that our experienced dentists will go to extreme lengths to provide you with the best possible result that is second-to-none, so you can feel confident and proud of your smile.
